Armed Crime Squad detectives are asking the public for assistance after a man was shot in Norlane.
A 47-year-old man of no fixed place of address was located with a gunshot wound near the intersection of Alkira and Yooringa avenues before 11pm on Sunday, November 17.
Police believe the man was shot on a nearby oval at Evans Reserve around 10.30pm, where he remained for close to 30 minutes before knocking on the door of a nearby house for help.
The female resident called triple zero (000) at the time, but the victim left on foot before calling triple zero (000) himself from a public phone on Alkira Avenue.
Emergency services responded to the incident, and the man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Armed Crime Squad Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Ross Adams said the “reckless use of a firearm” left a man with “potentially life changing injuries”.
“Having reviewed CCTV in the area, we know there were a number of people both on foot and on bicycles in the area at the time,” he said.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who has knowledge of who was involved and what the motivation for the shooting might have been.
“There might be something you noticed that night that seemed unusual or even something you think might be inconsequential.
“Any indiscriminate use of a firearm is concerning for police, and we will do absolutely everything in our power to bring those involved before the court.”
Anyone who witnessed or has footage of the incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au
