Track closure in Newtown

A Newtown walking trail will be closed next week for pathway reconstruction works along the Barwon River through Geelong.

The works will target a priority section of a shared-use trail in poor condition, with a temporary closure of the pathway section along Rotary Walk from the Windsor Road entry.

A Corangamite Catchment Management Authority (CMA) spokesperson said no access will be permitted along the pathway section while the works are conducted from May 27 to June 7.

“The footpath will undergo a much-needed upgrade, providing a wider path for both walkers and cyclists,” they said.

“Footpath closure signs will be placed along the walking track leading to the construction area, giving the public ample notice to turn around at either Fyans Park or Yollinko Wetlands.”
