Summer by the Sea

People can explore some of the best beaches that the Bellarine has to offer with free activities through the Summer by the Sea program.

The program will provide the opportunity to explore coastal and marine environments.

Member for Bellarine Alison Marchant said Summer by the Sea combined fun and education through a wide range of activities.

“This free educational program offers something for everyone, including guided coastal tours, wildlife-themed activities and family-friendly rockpool rambles,” she said.

“Summer by the Sea invites young Victorians to discover our beaches and coastlines while learning how to care for our oceans and the unique wildlife that call them home.”

Bellarine activities will include a Queenscliff shore snorkel, Point Lonsdale hooded plover conservation, Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove coastal discovery walks, and Swan Bay canoeing, along with discovering the Bluff and a rockpool ramble in Barwon Heads.

Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos said the program would help families get outdoors and stay active.

“Summer by the Sea gives families a fun, free way to get active and enjoy Victoria’s beautiful beaches without stretching the budget,” he said.

“The program also helps young people learn about Victoria’s amazing marine species and habitats, and to learn how they can help protect our coastal environments.”

Summer by the Sea will run from 3 to 18 January and people can visit marineandcoasts.vic.gov.au/coastal-programs for more information and to make a booking.
