Rev in the new year

Ready your engines and get down to Drysdale Recreation Reserve early in the new year to enjoy some classic cars and motorcycles.

Drysdale’s Classic Car and Bike Show will feature a day packed with shiny classic cars and roaring bikes, along with food, drinks, trade stalls and live music.

Event organiser Mark Friend said the show had been running for close to 13 years and that he looked forward to seeing people enjoy the day.

“It’s turned into a really good family day with live music, food and coffee, and…everyone’s got a smile with kids everywhere running amok,” he said.

“There’s also a cruise through the Bellarine the night before that goes from Drysdale around through Portarlington to St Leonards and back through Portarlington to Drysdale.

“I’ve got a ‘69 American Dodge Charger that I’ve had for a few years now, and it’s been fully rebuilt with a new motor and all that.

“It was a long process as I first bought it when I was 19 and I’m 37 now, and I’ve only just really got it running, so it has taken about 19 years to get it on the road, but I get a lot of joy out of it.”

Drysdale’s Classic Car and Bike Show will run from 10.30am to 2.30pm on Sunday 4 January, with entry to the event by a gold coin donation, which will benefit Drysdale Cricket Club.
