Two Geelong swim teachers won top honours at Aquatics and Recreation Victoria’s annual awards last week.

Khyl Cornwill won the top award for teaching disabled swimmers, while Kylie Titheridge won the prize for teaching toddlers, pre-schoolers and infants.

Mr Cornwill has been an instructor for three years and won praise for his outstanding work with students through innovative communication.

Bellarine Aquatic and Sports Centre’s Ms Titheridge won recognition for adapting her lessons to suit circumstances and using creative teaching strategies and techniques.

Leisurelink also took out top honours for sustainability, due to work by Geelong council staff to reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency at the centre.
