CCTV footage released in relation to school fire

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV footage in relation to a significant suspicious fire at a Waurn Ponds School earlier this month.

Investigators have been told two unknown male offenders attended Christian College senior school on Pigdons Road about 12.30am on January 1.

The men, armed with tools, damaged property at the school before a fire was lit at a large building containing several classrooms.

Emergency services were called to reports of the fire at 2.30am.

The building was completely destroyed by the blaze.

More than $4 million worth of damage was caused during the incident.

Police have released CCTV and images of two men they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The first man is described as having a solid build and a reddish-coloured beard.

He was pictured wearing dark-coloured clothing.

The second man had a medium build and was also in dark-coloured clothing.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing and anyone who can assist in identifying these individuals is urged to come forward.

Anyone with information that can assist police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online at crimestoppersvic.com.au
