Our Lady Star of the Sea Primary School is the second best primary school football team in the state.

The Ocean Grove school won the Western Region division earlier this month before taking on the state’s best in the School Sport Victoria Australian Football State Finals at Anthony Beale Reserve, St Helena on August 17.

Our Lady Star of the Sea (OLSOTS) brushed past St Lukes Shepparton, Mont Albert and St Mary’s Echuca in the Section A round robin format before taking on Section B winners Glen Katherine in the grand final to decide the state champs.

The boys defeated St Lukes by 24 points, got past Mont Albert by 10 points and defeated St Mary’s by 12 points to cruise into the final.

Glen Katherine would be a formidable opponent, having scored 128 points for and only 23 points against in its round robin format.

Glen Katherine would go on to win the final against OLSOTS, 28 to 12.

While the Ocean Grove boys lost the grand final, they can hold their heads high after a magnificent showing throughout the tournament.
