Geelong vaccine locations listed

Almost two dozen clinics in Geelong and the Surf Coast will join phase 1B of the national COVID-19 vaccine rollout beginning next Monday, federal government has announced.

Initially 1000 general practices across Australia will administer COVID-19 vaccines for the elderly and immunocompromised, increasing to 4000 by the end of April.

About 6 million Australians will be vaccinated during Phase 1B, according to government.

The announcement comes after calls from elderly residents inundated GPs across Australia following a technical glitch affecting the government’s vaccine booking website just after its launch.

Meanwhile, national chief medical officer Paul Kelly reassured Australians that “there is no evidence” that the AstraZeneca vaccine causes blood clots after some European countries suspended its distribution.
