Drug test unearths ‘prohibited weapon’

A Bell Park truck driver was allegedly drug driving when police discovered what they believe to be a ‘knuckle duster’ in his possession.

Colac police and Highway Patrol officers set up a preliminary testing site on Princes Hwy at East Colac before they intercepted the truck about 11am.

The truck driver, a 35-year-old man, was not wearing a seatbelt and returned a positive road-side drug test, police said.

Police also found his truck to be defective and discovered a “prohibited weapon” inside the vehicle.

Police expected to charge the man on summons with drug driving, traffic-related offences and other offences.
