The City of Greater Geelong is calling for applications for engaging and inspiring events and workshops to be held as part of this year’s Geelong Small Business Festival.

Deputy Mayor Trent Sullivan said the City was putting the call out for event applications for the month-long festival, which will be held from August 1 to 31.

“The festival brings together some of our region’s best business experts, small business owners and managers, and leading industry organisations to share their knowledge and experiences,” he said.

“It’s a unique opportunity to learn from industry specialists and build professional networks at a critical time for local businesses.

“We encourage local business owners and employees, professional trainers, facilitators, speakers, and subject matter experts to showcase their skills and build their profile by taking part in the festival.”

Economic development portfolio chair Peter Murrihy said the festival provided free and low-cost events to upskill prospective and current business owners, while creating networking opportunities to support Greater Geelong’s business community.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy. Now in its 12th year, we’re proud to host the festival which has helped connect, grow and upskill hundreds of local businesses,” he said.

“We’re thrilled that COVID-19 restrictions have lifted so we can bring our business community together again.”

Cr Murrihy said the City was looking for professional insight across accounting, cash flow and finance; human resources and legal; e-commerce and digital technologies; marketing and communications; health and wellbeing; and sustainability and social responsibility.

Event applications are open until Friday, May 20.
