Thieves cut woman in aggravated burglary

Thieves slashed a woman in an aggravated burglary at Wandana Heights on Monday morning after she tried to stop them taking her belongings.

The woman woke to find two males in her Wandana Dve home just after 2am, police alleged.

The pair tried to make off with the woman’s bag and car keys when she grabbed onto one of the offenders.

The pair threatened the 31-year-old woman, who received a cut to the shoulder and another to the hand during the confrontation.

The males, who the woman described as possibly in their late teens, fled the scene in the her white Volvo.

Emergency services attended the address shortly after 2am and paramedics treated the woman for upper body injuries, an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

They later took her to University Hospital Geelong in a stable condition.

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives were continuing their investigation into the aggravated burglary on Monday morning.

They urged anybody with information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
