Arrest after carjackings

A 31-year-old Norlane man allegedly threatened a woman with a bottle and stole her car, before allegedly assaulting another woman and threatening her with a screwdriver in a second carjacking an hour later.

Police said the alleged carjacking occurred at 7am yesterday on Moorabool Street, Geelong, while the second incident occurred on the Bellarine Highway, Newcomb, just before 8am.

Police arrested the man in a carpark at North Geelong Railway Station yesterday morning.

Theft charges

A 21-year-old man faces 45 charges, including car theft, theft from a car and obtaining property by deception after police arrested him in Drysdale on Tuesday.

The man, who had been wanted on two warrants, appeared before Geelong Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

North opening

Health Minister Jenny Mikakos officially opened the long-awaited Barwon Health North facility at Norlane yesterday.

Stage one of the new facility features an urgent care centre for minor illnesses and injuries, open 2-10PM daily, and x-ray and medical imaging.
