House fire kills man

A man has died in a Norlane house fire this morning while a second man is fighting for life in hospital.

Fire crews rushed to the Watsonia Grv house about 6am following reports of a blaze, police said.

The crews extinguished the fire before finding the body of a man in a front room.

Paramedics rushed another man in critical condition to University Hospital Geelong with burns and smoke inhalation, an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.

Arson Squad detectives would attend the scene this morning to determine the cause of the fire, police said.

Police are yet to confirm if the fire was suspicious or provide details of the two men.

They urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 00 or file a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
