Handbag stolen from Geelong court

BRAZEN: A handbag theft from Geelong Magistrates' Court prompted police to release CCTV of a woman who could help with their inquiries.

A handbag theft from Geelong’s courthouse has prompted police to release CCTV images as they for hunt for the culprit.

The handbag disappeared from Geelong Magistrates’ Court on 12 August with police alleging a thief took it.

The victim left her handbag on a seat within the ground level waiting area of the central Geelong courthouse about 10am, they told investigators.

The victim returned at 11am to find the black Mimco bag and its contents including a rose gold Samsung mobile phone, black Mimco wallet, cash and various credit cards were gone.

Investigators on Friday released images of a woman who they believe “may be able to assist them with their inquiries”.

The woman was of Caucasian appearance, about 160cm tall with a medium build and wearing a pink top with a black coat, black leggings, white shoes and carrying a black backpack, police said.
