Let there be light

Seven Geelong sporting reserves are set to receive a lighting upgrade following a $2.256 million state government funding boost announced today.

The seven reserves to receive upgrades are: St Albans Reserve, Thomson, Grinter Reserve, Newcomb, St Leonards Lake Reserve, St Leonards, Evans Reserve, Norlane, Osborne Park, North Geelong, Burdoo Reserve, Grovedale and Winter Reserve, Belmont.

New footpaths

Council has completed construction of two new footpaths along Thompson Road, North Geelong, and Furner Avenue, Bell Park.

Construction of the two “missing links” together cost $436,968, with Geelong ratepayers funding $324,885 and 52 nearby property owners funding the rest through a special contributions scheme.

Retaining wall construction, pavement and driveway reinstatement, and kerb and channel works cost council a further $148,000.
