Police seeking man in connection with break-ins

Geelong Divisional Response Unit detectives hope members of the public can help identify a man in connection to an aggravated burglary and a spate of other attempted home invasions in the Geelong area.

Police were told a man wearing a face mask forced his way into a property on Dane Avenue in Bell Post Hill just before 3am on Wednesday, February 1.

The residents were home at the time, and nothing has been reported as stolen.

Investigators believe the same burglar may be involved in a number of other recent attempted burglaries between Sunday, January 29 and Tuesday, February 7.

The previous attempted break-ins all occurred between the hours of 2.30am and 4.30am in the Bell Post Hill, Rippleside and Highton areas.

While none of the incidents have resulted in theft or property damage, the behaviour is unusual and of concern to police.

Detectives have made a number of enquiries related to the man’s identity and believe he is Caucasian, about 30-40 years old, around 180cm and with a thin build.

Police have released images and CCTV of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
