Geelong’s newest playground is officially open in Armstrong Creek.
Glenlee Regional Park, located in the Glenlee Estate at Reserve Road, has been developed by ID_Land, in conjunction with the City of Greater Geelong.
Recently approved for community use, the 1.96-hectare park caters for a range of different age groups by featuring 26 play elements across three different ‘Play Zones’.
The park contains more than 170 new trees planted in addition to the existing 60 trees that have been retained in the area.
There are two double BBQs on site and car-parking for more than 40 vehicles.
Greater Geelong Mayor Peter Murrihy said the City’s newest playground is a welcome addition to the region.
“The Glenlee Regional Park is a wonderful asset to the entire Armstrong Creek community, particularly given its versatility as it caters for all ages with a wide variety of playground features,” he said.
“The space has so many wonderful elements and is set to be a real source of attraction to families throughout what we know is one of the state’s growth corridors.”
Deputy chair of the Leisure and Recreation portfolio councillor Jim Mason shared Mayor Murrihy’s enthusiasm for the carefully crafted open space.
“Even through the height of the Covid pandemic we saw the value of open spaces and now we have an opportunity to enjoy a newly developed facility without limitation,” he said.
“The extensive car parking, provision of BBQs, developing tree cover and outstanding playground equipment will make this a must-visit location for all families.”
Glenlee Regional Park is located at Portola Close, Charlemont.
