Tower alight

Geelong’s tallest building, Miramar, lit up on Wednesday night as its owners celebrated its scheduled completion this week.

The owners marked the occasion with a ‘lighting of the candle’ ceremony turning on every light in the 71-metre high building at 7.30pm.

Burglary

Six males of African appearance, and in their late teens or early twenties smashed their way into a Geelong West home with baseball bats on Wednesday, police alleged.

The offenders smashed windows before making demands for valuables and assaulting the three occupants of the Gertrude Street house about 3.35am, police said.

Paramedics took two male victims to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
