Speeding towards safety

Twenty-one speed humps across Jan Juc are getting an upgrade to make the roads and surrounding communities safer.

Surf Coast Shire Council will begin to replace existing or missing rubber speed humps with compliant asphalt speed humps this month, with works expected to be completed during July.

Councillor Liz Pattison said the works aimed to help slow vehicles and improve safety for all road users, including pedestrians and cyclists, as the rubber speed humps no longer met required standards.

“These speed humps help make the roads safer for everyone by slowing traffic,” she said.

“It’s great to see these being replaced. There are so many gaps where part or all of the speed hump is missing.”

Upgraded speed humps included six along Ocean Boulevard, six along Sunset Strip, three along Strathmore Drive, two along Carnarvon Avenue, two along Domain Road, one along Duffields Road and one along Seaview Rise.

Buses will have access throughout the construction, and traffic management will occur during the works.
