Honouring the borough’s people

Queenscliff groups and organisations have been recognised for enhancing the region’s wellbeing and quality of life.

Borough of Queenscliffe awarded 14 community grants and 13 event sponsorships during an evening event on July 30.

Deputy mayor Brendan Monahan said he was thankful to the community groups and events that support connectivity and culture across the borough.

“We recognise the many people who have dedicated their time, energy, and passion to develop a range of interesting and diverse events and activities,” he said.

“These initiatives not only enrich our community, but also bring people together, create memories, and foster a strong sense of belonging whether it’s through festivals, art shows, flower shows, singing, knitting, or swimming competitions.”

Community grants were awarded to the Combined Probus Club of Queenscliff, Shedding the Blues, Queenscliff Neighbourhood House, Point Lonsdale Primary and Queenscliffe Historical Museum.

Boardriders Club, St Aloysius Primary, Friends of the Hooded Plover, Point Lonsdale Bowls Club, Queenscliffe Indigenous Nursery, First Queenscliff Sea Scouts, Bellarine Catchment Network, Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club, and Feel Good, Sing were also community grant recipients.

Event sponsorships were provided to Chrysalis Awakenings, Rotary Club of Ocean Grove, Sea All Dolphins, New Swell Choir, Barwon Heads Arts Council, The Blues Train and St George’s Flower Show.

Bellarine Lighthouse Film Festival, Sacrededge, Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club, Queenscliff Music Festival, Queenscliffe Literary Festival and Coast Guard Queenscliff were also awarded sponsorships.
