Violent offender arrested following manhunt

Police arrested serious violent offender Braydon Carrington in North Shore on Saturday night following a public appeal to help track him down.

The 27-year-old allegedly breached an interim supervision order a week earlier sparking a police manhunt.

Police arrested Carrington, formerly of Geelong, at a property in North Shore on Saturday and he was remanded in custody to appear before Geelong Magistrates’ Court today.

Officers charged him with 11 offences including contravening a condition of an interim supervision order by using prohibited drugs, and criminal damage.

Police also charged him with contravening the interim supervision order by damaging, disabling or removing an electronic monitoring device and failing to reside at a designated address.

The charges follow an extensive search and public appeal for information by police after the Fawkner man allegedly tampered with and removed an electronic monitoring device on August 1.

Carrington had been subject to the interim supervision order, as a serious violent offender, which required him to wear the device, live at a specific address and maintain regular appointments with police.

“Police would like to thank the public and media for their assistance,” Victoria Police spokeswoman Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said.
