Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a teen after a fatal crash in Corio early on Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called to reports of a Mazda sedan crashing into a pole on School Road about 2am.
The front seat passenger of the vehicle, 17-year-old boy from the Greater Geelong area, died at the scene.
A 16-year-old boy from the Greater Geelong Area, alleged to be the driver, has been charged with culpable driving, dangerous driving cause death and other driving offences.
One of the deceased boy’s family members expressed her grief on Facebook, saying her heart was broken.
“You deserved a chance to grow up, have a great life and grab what the world had to offer you…much love for you lil cuz, you may be gone but you’ll never be forgotten,” she wrote.
