Man charged over alleged lewd behaviour

Torquay Police have charged a 54-year-old Melton South man following an alleged incident at Point Addis Beach on Sunday evening.

Police were called to the beach about 6pm following reports a naked man was seen performing a lewd act at the water’s edge near female surfers.

Police allege the man then followed the surfers before they sought assistance from passers-by who confronted the man.

It was alleged that following a short verbal confrontation, the man began following the surfers again.

Police were called and arrested a 54-year-old man.

He was charged with sexual activity directed at another person and bailed to appear at the Geelong Magistrates Court next February.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
