Inclusive facilities at Inverleigh

Updated change rooms for Inverleigh’s football, netball and cricket clubs will play a role in increased female participation according to the state government.

Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence joined Member for Buninyong Michaela Settle to officially open new upgrades and female friendly change rooms at the Inverleigh Sporting Complex, made possible by more than $1.52 million from the state government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Stimulus Program.

The new change rooms will enable the Inverleigh Hawks and Inverleigh Kookaburras to grow their female teams and host more competitions.

The project has delivered two new female friendly change rooms, umpire change rooms, new first aid room, massage rooms and storage space, as well as upgrades to two existing change rooms.

“Having inclusive facilities like these at Inverleigh Sporting Complex will help local clubs attract new and keep existing players, building healthy and welcoming communities,” Minister Spence said.

“We know that when women and girls feel comfortable they’re more likely to stick with their sporting club, and that’s why having appropriate change rooms is so important.”

“The Inverleigh Hawks Football Netball Club and Inverleigh Kookaburras Cricket Club are integral parts of this community – they deserve facilities that make everyone feel respected and included,” Ms Settle said.
