Get involved in Geelong’s road management

The City of Greater Geelong (CoGG) is giving members of the public the chance to share their ideas and concerns about the way the council manages and maintains the region’s footpaths and roads.

The City will host two community workshops where people can have input into Geelong’s Road Management Plan 2025.

The plan will be the guiding document for the City’s management of the more than 2000km of roads, 2300km of paths, 86 major culverts and nearly 150 bridges in the Greater Geelong area.

It will include how often paths, roads, kerbs and channels are inspected, what defects the City repairs and in what time frame the City must repair them.

CoGG chief executive Ali Wastie said the community’s input and engagement was an important part of the City’s review.

“Getting the community involved and hearing people’s insights is an invaluable step in the review process,” Ms Wastie said.

“We want Geelong residents to help set our standards around the inspection and repair of road and footpath assets.”

The workshops will run in early December, with one session held at the council’s Wurriki Nyal offices and another at Boronggook Drysdale Library, with participants able to share their thoughts, ask questions and give their feedback on the Road Management Plan.

Registration is required. Visit yoursay.geelongaustralia.com.au/RMPR or call 5272 5272 to book your spot before 5pm Monday, November 18.
