Highton’s Tim Hill Reserve has benefited from a $393,000 upgrade.
The upgrade delivered fully automated field-wide irrigation, rotunda, new synthetic cricket wicket, Australian Rules football wicket cover and goal posts.
The reserve is used by Alexander Thomson Vikings Cricket Club, which competes in the Geelong Cricket Association 3rd Division.
Other aspects of the project included:
– a new eastern fence line and boundary barrier fencing along Wandana Drive
– new storage facility for the Alexander Thomson Cricket Club
– increased fencing height for safety at the Wandana Heights Tennis Club courts
– replacement and reorientation of the synthetic cricket wicket
– relocation and replacement of the Australian Rules football goal posts
– realignment of the field of play to maximise the field size
Mayor Trent Sullivan said council is proud to have fully funded the Tim Hill Reserve upgrade.
“The project will be of significant benefit to the residents of the region, including tenant clubs,” he said.
“I’m sure it’s a much more enjoyable experience playing cricket, football or tennis here now with the recent improvements.”
Councillor Ron Nelson said the Tim Hill reserve is well utilised.
“Wandana Heights residents deserve access to a high-quality playing surface that’s well graded and well maintained,” he said.
“We know sporting reserves are critical to healthy communities as they directly support physical and mental health.”
