Aged care facilities in Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast are among those that will benefit from a program to upgrade regional aged care facilities.
The state government last week announced that 21 public aged care facilities had been successful in applying for the $10 million rural residential aged care facilities renewal program.
The renewal program supports improvement projects to deliver significant enhancements for aged care residents and help meet the growing demand for services in regional and rural Victoria.
The funding will help upgrade Wi-Fi to link to nurse call and electronic care systems at McKellar Centre and Percy Baxter, Blakiston and Alan David Lodges, which are all run by Barwon Health.
The Lorne Community Hospital, which is run by the Great Ocean Road Health, will be upgraded to include improvements to the layout and workflow of laundry including the installation of new benches and sink.
Disability, Ageing and Carers Minister Luke Donnellan said it was about providing older Victorians with access to the very best services, amenities and care.
“This is about ensuring aged care facilities in regional and rural Victoria have the vital infrastructure and equipment they need to continue to care for their local community.”
“There is no more worthwhile investment – helping to rebuild our economy, while also ensuring the quality of aged care for all Victorians, no matter where they live.”
