Newtown house fire not suspicious

Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal house fire in Newtown on Monday morning.

Emergency Services were called to the Upper Skene Street home following reports of the fire about 2am.

A woman found inside the property died at the scene.

Victoria Police told the Independent that the fire was not being treated as suspicious and never was in the first place.
