A Little River man allegedly blew more than five times the blood alcohol limit when officers breath-tested him in Lara this morning.

Geelong Highway Patrol officers intercepted a Toyota ute in McClelland Avenue about 5.35am.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Little River, underwent a preliminary breath test and accompanied police to the station for an evidentiary test.

He returned a reading of 0.266, police alleged.

Police immediately suspended his licence for 12 months and he is expected appear at a magistrates’ court at a later date for traffic-related offences.

Police also expect to issue the man a penalty notice for breaching COVID-19 restrictions.
