Lara driver caught at twice speed and alcohol limits

Police nabbed a Lara man driving at almost twice the speed limit while he was allegedly more than double the legal alcohol limit on Saturday.

Geelong Highway Patrol officers detected the 32-year-old man driving at 188km/h in a 100km/h zone on the Geelong Ring Rd about 5.45am, before pulling him over.

The driver underwent a preliminary breath test which indicated the presence of alcohol.

He then allegedly returned an evidentiary breath test of .107, more than twice the legal limit.

“The man is expected to be charged on summons for speeding and drink driving and his car will be impounded,” Victoria Police Senior Constable Jacob Gooden said.
