Brothers jailed for beating over suspected affair

Brothers who launched an ugly and brutal attack on a man out of revenge for a suspected affair have been jailed.

Feed Me Bellarine co-founder Anthony Woodbury was aided by his younger brother Andrew in the sickening attack on the man, who was dragged from the garage of his Indented Head.

Anthony Woodbury and his victim had once been friends, but the relationship soured when the 34-year-old suspected the other man was having an affair with his wife.

Any affair is denied.

In April 2022, the brothers showed up unannounced at the victim’s home.

Anthony Woodbury punched the man in the eye and dragged him out of his garage, where he had been having a drink with a friend.

He then punched, kicked and kneed the man, dragging him around on the concrete driveway.

Andrew Woodbury joined in, punching the man four times before taking his wallet from the garage.

The brothers fled and days later were arrested. Anthony Woodbury admitted his crimes to police, but Andrew Woodbury lied and denied any involvement.

Both men pleaded guilty to intentionally causing injury.

It is lucky the victim’s injuries – lacerations, bruising and bumps – weren’t more serious, County Court Judge Geoff Chettle said on Tuesday.

He described their actions as an “ugly brutal and sickening attack on a man on his own property”.

Anthony Woodbury was jailed for two years and six months for his leading role. He must serve at least 15 months.

Andrew Woodbury was ordered to serve 10 months in prison for his lesser role.

Upon release he will be subject to a two-year court order that includes 100 hours of unpaid community work, and requirements that he seek treatment for drug and alcohol abuse.
