Man arrested and charged with theft

A Geelong West man has been arrested following a series of alleged thefts, assaults and deceptions in the Geelong area.

The 45-year-old was arrested and charged with 16 offences of theft and possession of a dependence drug on Friday, November 1, and remanded to appear at the Geelong Magistrates Court.

Police alleged that the man stole from a number of cars and used stolen credit cards to make purchases between August and October. It is also believed that the man stole a car in Geelong West.

Geelong Senior Sergeant Aaron Riches said the arrest followed an extensive investigation by Geelong Uniform members.

“Our teams work tirelessly to identify, investigate and arrest offenders, putting them before the court to answer for their actions,” he said

“We are closely tracking offenders to ensure Geelong remains a safe place for everyone, and this arrest is just another example of that.”
