Torquay kids get a Thingle for safety out of mascot

THINGLE Toodle taught Torquay pre-schoolers to stop, look, listen and think this week.
Victoria’s road safety mascot joined VicRoads colleague Professor Eric Speriment to deliver lifesaving road messages to children at Torquay’s Montessori kinder on Tuesday.
The colourful mascot appeared in his red shirt and green pants to join the pre-schoolers in various activities including educational songs and games.
The aim of the activities was to help young children learn and remember key points about road safety.
A primary message included ‘stop, look, listen and think when crossing the road’.
The children were also reminded to hold hands with an adult when crossing roads and were given a lesson on how to find a safe place to play.
VicRoads south-west regional director William Tieppo attended the event, describing it as a “key part of Victoria’s early-childhood road safety program”.
“VicRoads is a proud supporter of this program, which has been helping to keep children safe on and near roads for many years,” he said.
