Ford has been caught testing a new car around Geelong, according to a motoring website.
“Exclusive spy shots” from a reader of motoring.com.au showed three disguised but similar Ford sedans driving between Highton and Lara, where the company has a testing ground.
The website said a Ford Territory accompanied the cars, “shepherding them and fending off the occasional curious bystander”.
“The three cars looked larger than the current Mondeo and all three were left-hand-drive and loaded to the gills with test equipment.”
The website speculated that Ford was locally testing new vehicles for foreign markets.
The company has announced it will stop making cars in Australia, costing hundreds of Geelong jobs.
The Lincoln is a long-standing Ford brand in the USA but has yet to appear for sale in the Australian market.
