New police station with gym for south

By JOHN VAN KLAVEREN

POLICE will move into a new state-of-the-art station at Grovedale today.
The station will house uniform and highway patrol members as well as interview rooms, a “mess” room, a gymnasium, short-term custodial holding facilities, office space and a conference space adaptable for emergency-management purposes.
Superintendent Daryl Clifton said the new station would position local police to effectively meet the changing needs of the growing community at Waurn Ponds and Armstrong Creek.
“The new station is very modern in design and will assist our police to deliver the best possible service to Waurn Ponds and the surrounding communities,” he said.
The station will be open from 6am to 10pm daily at 13-39 Rossack Dve.
The station’s phone number is 5247 3500 but police said anyone seeking officers to attend an incident should dial 000.
