An 81-year-old man has died after a freak car accident on The Esplanade at St Leonards on Monday.
Police believed the man stepped out of his car while it was in reverse outside his home about 3.30pm.
The car rolled backwards at a slow speed and the driver’s-side door struck the man, who died at the scene, police said.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
