Fight for life

A 67-year-old Mt Duneed man is fighting for his life at Royal Melbourne Hospital after being trapped under farm equipment for more than 24 hours.
It is understood the man, who reportedly lives alone, was baling hay at his property on Monday when the machinery he was operating malfunctioned.
According to reports the man got off the hay baler to investigate the fault and became trapped.
A neighbour found the man pinned under the machinery at least 24 hours later, at 6.45pm Tuesday, and called triple-zero.
Paramedics treated the man during a three-hour rescue operation and took him via road to Geelong Hospital in a critical condition.
Emergency services had to cut apart the baler in order to free the man, who suffered a severe crush injury in his upper leg.
Early this morning an air ambulance helicopter flew him to Royal Melbourne Hospital.
A hospital spokesperson confirmed the man remained in a critical condition but was unable to provide any further information.
Worksafe was investigating the site of the incident today.
