A GUITARIST renowned as ‘The Lord of the Strings’ will perform at Geelong College this month.
Promoters said Matthew Fagan was “Australia’s leading all-round acoustic guitarist”.
He played a 10-string guitar during a “vibrant musical journey with a magical repertoire” covering styles from flamenco and Celtic through to bluegrass, folk, blues and rock, the promoters said.
“As a touring musician Matthew has followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Milton Parkes, and great-uncle Cecil Parkes, Australia’s child prodigy in the 1920s who was personally chosen by Dame Nelliie Melba as her star attraction on patriotic Australasian tours.”
Scottish comedian Billy Connolly described Fagan as “the best guest artist I have ever toured with”.
Fagan plays the college’s senior campus from 7.30pm 15 October, with tickets available through trybooking.com.
