GEELONG’S happiest fun run is expected to raise a record amount for charity this year.
Organisers of the annual Dawnbusters Run hope to make more than $5000 to be distributed among a number of worthy causes.
Event Manager Jamie Harcourt said it was a fun run with “the emphasis on fun.”
“It’s open to all comers, babies in prams, kids on skates and even dogs on leads,” she said.
The event will be held on New Year’s Eve around a five-kilometre circuit from the Carousel on the Waterfront to the Botanical Gardens and return.
Registration will begin at 6am and the race to start at 7am.
Entry is $10 for over 18s and $5 for under 18.
Proceeds go to Give Where You Live, which helps support a number of local charities including Glastonbury, Shannon Park, Scope and Barwon Youth.
Ms Harcourt said the event is expected to attract almost 1000 participants.
“The Dawnbusters Fun Run is a fantastic way to prepare for the indulgences of New Year’s Eve,” Ms Harcourt said.
“There are prizes, give-aways and stacks of fun,” she said.
