Selwood needs help: Scott

The case for Geelong to chase Adelaide’s tough ball-getter Paddy Dangerfield was almost unintentionally outlined by Geelong coach Chris Scott this week.
Geelong plays Adelaide on Sunday at Adelaide Oval so he will get another firsthand look at the boy from nearby Moggs Creek.
Scott conceded his courageous skipper Joel Selwood had been below his best this season and that a lack of support had been one of the reasons behind the form drop.
“He sets a high standard,” Scott said.
“When there’s a little bit of a dip below that standard it becomes more obvious.”
Scott said Geelong had missed having an elite midfield for some time.
“We are a bit more positive on some things that might be a bit harder to pick up by the external observers,” he said.
“But we haven’t had those big experienced midfielders for quite some time and I don’t think it impacted his form too much last year.
“Ideally we’d have five or six absolute gun midfielders who are all in the prime of their career as Joel is.
“We don’t at the moment
“But we think we are not too far away from developing a pretty formidable midfield group.”
