BELLS Beach’s Ricky Rawson faces up to 12 years in a Bali jail after police arrested him on drug charges, according to an Australian Government spokesperson.
Rawson, 48, was charged with possession of narcotics after police arrested him in Seminyak allegedly with two ecstasy pills and .06 grams of methamphetamine.
Rawson told media outlets he was just two days away from returning home from a 10-day fishing trip.
Indonesian authorities are holding him at Denpasar police station in Indonesia.
Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said Rawson had appointed a lawyer.
He would also receive assistance from Australian consular officers.
Indonesia’s Kerobokan jail currently houses 13 Australians.
Denpasar drug squad chief Major Ambariyadi told Australian media that Rawson had allegedly admitted using drugs he bought from an unknown person in the Kuta area.
Major Ambariyadi said Rawson allegedly paid about 400,000 rupiah, or $A44, for the methamphetamine and about 300,000 rupiah, $A33, for each ecstasy pill.
