COMEDY fans can expect a laugh a minute for 100 minutes at Geelong Performing Arts Centre this Friday night, according to Trevor Marmalade.
The former Footy Show funnyman will join fellow Australian comedian Russell Gilbert on stage in their A to Z of Comedy show.
Marmalade said the pair had “so much fun” with the show at the Comics’ Lounge last year that they had taken it on the road.
“We’re going to squeeze as many laughs as we can into 100 minutes. The alphabet format lets us cut the show down to the jokes.”
Marmalade said the show’s structure allowed the pair to “play around” with 100 topics.
“It’s just a loose format that gives us room to basically do what we want.”
The North Melbourne footy club fan was looking forward to visiting Geelong “this time”.
“Darryl Somers still invites me to the footy once a year. No, I never look forward to it because you always thrash us,” he scowled.
Marmalade said he and Gilbert would include a few footy jokes but also cover many other topics.
“Thankfully, I’ll get the opportunity to do all the other stuff I talk about. There’s a whole wide world out there apart from footy.”
Marmalade said his and Gilbert’s audience ranged from 18 to 50-year-olds.
The pair has stood the test of time after stints on television and as stand-up artists since the ’80s.
Marmalade joked that he had known Gilbert “far too long”.
“I got him out of the audience to do his first ever try-out gig 30 years ago. I discovered him and a lot of people have never forgiven me.”
