Homicide Squad detectives charged a Norlane man with murder on Tuesday, over the death of Waurn Ponds mother-of-two Raichele Galea last year.
The 21-year-old man was scheduled to face Geelong Magistrates Court on charges of murder, attempted robbery and perjury on Tuesday afternoon.
On 30 June, 2017, emergency services attended a unit on Matthews Road, Corio, about 10pm following reports a woman had been assaulted.
Emergency crews attempted to revive Ms Galea but the 44-year-old died at the scene.
“It’s believed several people were at the property on the night and the investigation remains ongoing,” a police spokesperson said.
Police urged anyone with information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
