AN “increased focus on improvement” has won Barwon Health Victoria’s highest honour for regional health-care services, State Government has announced.
The Government said the Premier’s Award for Regional Health Service of the Year recognised “leadership and excellence”.
Health Minister David Davis said the service was “playing an integral role” in caring for the region’s 350,000 residents.
“In the past year Barwon Health demonstrated increased focus on improvement initiatives, working to identify and engage in improvements that are system-wide and sustainable,” Mr Davis said.
The award also recognised Barwon Health’s role as a “leader in sustainability”, reducing waste to landfill and producing “less carbon”.
South Barwon MP Andrew Katos said the service was “a leader in excellence in patient care”.
He called the award “fitting tribute to the leadership and dedication” of Barwon Health’s 6000 staff.
