Murder probe seeks Monaro tips

Alex de Vos
Police have appealed for information about the movements of a silver Holden Monaro linked to the shooting death of Corio father Brock Nightingale.
Police found the Monaro at Leopold’s Gateway Sanctuary on Monday morning two days after 26-year-old Mr Nightingale was gunned down at his Cloverdale Drive home.
Police said several men were seen leaving his house in the Monaro after the shooting.
The vehicle was found with bullet holes.
Police wanted to know the movements of the car between Saturday and 7am Monday.
A police spokesperson said officers rushed to Mr Nightingale’s house around 5.30pm Saturday to investigate shooting reports.
“Ambulance officers were called but the man died an hour after the incident,” the spokesperson said.
“Around 6pm, a 30-year-old man presented to Geelong Hospital with two gun shot wounds to his back.”
Police were still waiting to interview the injured man when the Independent went to press.
He was listed as under police guard in a stable condition at Geelong Hospital.
Police urged anyone with information to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or to visit website www.crimestoppers.com.au.
