Geelong’s Calum takes out Mr Universe pro

By Noel Murphy

HIGHTON bodybuilder Calum von Moger has taken out the World Fitness Federation’s Mr Universe title in France.
Von Moger took out the bodybuilding pro title following junior and amateur Mr Universe titles in 2011 and 2014. He thanked God and his first-ever coach for his win.
“Big thanks to my coach Eric Di Lauro,” he posted to Facebook earlier today.
“Even though it’s the first time I had a coach, he is the best prep coach out there.”
Von Moger credited others as well for his success, including “good friend and training partner Frank McGrath” and “especially to all my good friends and family at home that send me encouraging messages and wish me the best luck”.
“I appreciate it more then you know,” the ecstatic 24-year-old former ‘skinny kid’ said.
Von Moger said the weekend’s Mr Universe contest attracted more a million online viewers.
He thanked his girlfriend Karina Lisenbee and his parents who he said were “always sitting in my corner ready to reach out if I ever need it”
“Most of all I thank God for pouring his blessings out,” he said.
The Independent reported last year when von Moger was signed by two major sports and leisure agencies and lined up for various photo and video shoots. He has garner major bodybuilding sponsors in Cellucor and Strongliftwear.
The Arnold Schwarzenegger look-a-like also met his idol at the Arnold Sports Festival, founded by the Terminator, in Columbus, last year.
