Signs approved
Three electronic signs will shine advertising messages from the top of a building over one of Geelong’s busiest corners.
Councillors this week approved the signs, standing up to three metres high and almost 19 metres long above a Telstra shop at the corner of Moorabool and Ryrie Sts.

Deakin freeze
A fees freeze will help students beginning studies at Deakin University this year avoid higher costs from 2016, according to Vice-Chancellor Jane den Hollander.
Ms den Hollander said the freeze brought fees into line for all this year’s enrolments regardless of whether they began studies before or after the Federal Government’s 14 May cut-off for avoiding fee hikes.

Food ‘hub’
New jobs could flow from developing an “urban food hub” in Geelong, according to state MP David Koch.
The Member for Western Victoria said a state-funded study would investigate the feasibility of establishing the hub to sustain and generate agribusinesses and food industries around the city “to 2030 and beyond”.

Sheraton ‘best’
A state award has recognised Geelong’s Four Points by Sheraton as regional Victoria’s best hotel.
The venue won Regional Accommodation of the Year at a Victorian industry awards night in Melbourne this week.
