An 87-year-old man has died in hospital following a house fire in Newcomb this morning.
The man’s neighbours entered the Alma Court house after noticing flames and dragged the elderly man from his bed just after 1am.
The Newcomb man, who was the single occupant, was taken to the Geelong hospital where he later died.
Fire investigators tried to determine how the fire started, although it was not considered to be suspicious.
Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
