Executives ‘challenged’ over health

Eight of Geelong’s leading executives have challenged employees to take charge of their health and fitness.
The eight are two-thirds of the way through Geelong’s Fittest Exec 2011 challenge to promote healthier workplaces.
Club Exec owner Robyn Reimers said desk workers in the corporate sector faced major health challenges.
“What better way to prove to employees that it’s indeed possible to be fit and healthy than taking Geelong’s busiest business leaders and putting them through their paces?
“These execs are extremely time-poor, all in middle age and are great mentors for others. If they can succeed then hopefully others will see that it’s possible for them to achieve success also.”
Ms Reimers said the challenge would prove that sustainable and healthy eating, along with some “smart training”, would provide great results.
The challenge would judge competitors on body composition, strength and cardiovascular fitness.
The entrants are TAC’s Tracey Slatter, Leaders for Geelong program’s Jean Paul, The Gordon’s Sue Warner, Geelong Chamber of Commerce’s Bernadette Uzelac, Barwon Health’s David Ashbridge, Third Ecology’s Mark Sanders, Geelong Mayor John Mitchell and Senia Lawyers’ Andrew Senia.
Ms Slatter was surprised at the challenge’s impact so far.
“I have much higher and more sustained energy levels throughout the day, which is really helping me perform in my job.”
The challenge finishes on May 26 with a corporate healthy breakfast event to reveal the winner.
