Jan Juc residents have lodged a planning tribunal appeal against Surf Coast Shire’s bid to sting them for new footpaths.
Steve Burton, who is leading the push against the special charge scheme, said residents lodged the appeal at Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal this week.
He expected the appeal hearing to wait at least until September.
Mr Burton said residents who wanted to contribute to a legal fund to fight the charges could email him at craps@y7mail.com or phone 0412 101 225.
Councillors voted to charge Jan Juc households for new footpaths despite widespread opposition.
Council had planned to slug residents hundreds of dollars more but slashed their plan by 40 per cent amid fierce objections.
Residents fought the scheme for around six months before the council vote.
